    About me:

I trained in the United Kingdom and completed my social work training in 1996. Following this, I worked in a variety of social work roles.

In the United Kingdom I worked in hospital and community settings, working with adults with physical and/or mental health difficulties. I worked in an oncology department for three and a half years which enabled me to develop specific skills in working with individuals and their families who have a life limiting illness. I provided counselling and support through their illness.

I moved to New Zealand in 2006 and joined a community mental health team within the Canterbury District Health Board (CDHB). This role involved providing assessment and support for people with anxiety, mood disorders, psychosis and other mental health difficulties. This included support of families.

I moved to the Anxiety Disorders Service (CDHB) in 2012 which enabled me to develop specific skills in assessing and treating anxiety disorders. In addition to this role I also worked within a specialist service providing treatment to people with ongoing anxiety from the Canterbury earthquake sequence. This enabled me to develop skills in working with people with disaster related trauma symptoms.  I have had the role of family/whanau champion which focusses on enhancing the collaboration with clients, therapists and their families.

I have worked in a private setting since 2017 which has involved assessing and treating anxiety, depression, stress and life changes.

It is a pleasure for me to help people make the changes they want to. I work collaboratively with people and build on an individual’s strengths.

I work with adults aged 16 upwards
